Yerba Mate is a species of Holly native to South America. Very popular in Argentina, Uruguay, and other South American countries, it is contains high levels of caffeine along with many health benefits, and a flavour that is compared to green tea.

Traditionally brewed in a gourd, and the liquid is consumed through a straw called a bombilla. Yerba Mate has a strong distinctive taste, with a touch of astringency. You could compare it to a light green tea, or even a young Sheng (raw) Pu-erh, but not as strong. Unique unto it's self, and extremely popular in many South American countries where it is consumed 6 to 1 over coffee, it is has been gaining followers in North America steadily over the past few years.

Yerba Mate contains a unique combination of different caffeines, which stimulate your mind and body without the crash that you get from coffee. It has also been found to contain significant amounts of Vitamin B, minerals such as Zinc, Iron and Potassium, and 15 amino acids. It is also gentler on your stomach than other caffeinated products.
